Roxbury Township in New Jersey was formed in December of 1740, and is located in Morris County, New Jersey. Roxbury was formally incorporated as a township on February 21, 1798, state’s first group of 104 townships. In its early history Roxbury held many of the iron mines and forges that supplied George Washington and his soldiers of the Continental Army. The building of the Morris Canal in 1827 led to another time of growth for the community. The town became a hub for the canal works with lake Hopatcong as a major source of water for the canal works. Roxbury Township includes the towns of Succasunna, Landing, Kenvil and Ledgewood. According to the 2010 census 23,324 people lived in the township, spaced throughout approximately 8,292 households. Of the households in the township 36% had children under the age of 18 and over 65% of the households were held by married couples.

Students in 7-8 grade attend Eisenhower Middle School. Students 9-12 grade attend classes at Roxbury High School.
